He was born at 2:15 am on Tuesday 21 October - following a rather short labor (induced), and tiring delivery that ended with a bit of help from a vacuum.
Arriving two-and-a-half weeks early was a bit of a plus, I think he was quite a nice size to be born .... weighing nearly 3.5 kilos (7 pounds, 9 ounces), 52 cm long, with a 35cm circumference head.
Just when we were starting to get into a bit of a routine at the hospital, he was confirmed as being sufficiently jaundiced to warrant some time under lights. So he spent the next 4 days buck naked (except for a rather fetching eye mask). Even so, he looked adorable.
He got the all clear to go home a bit before lunch today, so had to deal with wearing clothes and a nappy (everything looks so big on him!).
The house looks rather chaotic. It's amazing how many bags of 'stuff' you can accumulate after 7 days in hospital. Rather than clean up, we rugged him up, and tested out his new pram - lucky there was a good supply of knitted items to keep him warm in the wind (it wasn't really that cold).
He's asleep now. And I'm getting nervous about his first night at home ....
